What drew me to this profession?
My interest in people and the complexity of the human condition. It is a privilege to hear people’s life stories and be part of their journey of recovery and renewal. I often have profound conversations with people as they work
towards achieving insight, healing, acceptance and empowerment.
Mental Health Work Experience
I have experience in adult, child and adolescent mental health. I worked at Monash Health’s Early in Life Mental Health Service (ELMHS) for 8 years supporting children and teenagers who often present with very challenging and high risk difficulties. I have been working in Private Practice for a number of years.
Who do I treat?
Children, adolescents, and adults. People often dismiss the connections between life stages and find it very grounding and illuminating when links are made.
My therapy style
I provide a safe, non-judgemental space so people can speak without fear during assessment and treatment. My work is done in partnership with clients within a trusting therapeutic relationship to understand the factors underlying their distress with the aim to achieve their desired goals. When working with children, I often find that the involvement of parents, schools and families in the treatment is vital to positive outcomes. I draw on a range of evidence based therapies depending upon each individual's circumstances. These include Supportive psychotherapy for adults and adolescents, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Play Therapy.
What drew me to this profession?
I have a keen interest in the functional movement of the human body and ways of improving the body’s ability to perform. I have had past injuries that restricted my movement and where the pain limited my lifestyle. I am fully aware of how over time, these can affect not only the physical health but the mental health. The hands-on nature of Myotherapy and the ability to make a positive change in a person’s life is what drew me to this profession.
My Past Work Experience
I began my working life as Neurophysiology Technologist conducting neurological tests on patients before moving into Biomedical Instrumentation. The latter involved training Biomedical Engineers all over the world and managing a Customer Training group for Asia Pacific. Later in my career I embarked on a change and completed the diploma of Remedial Massage and advanced diploma of Myotherapy at the Australian College of Fitness & Bodywork (AFCB). Currently I am completing a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine. I am by nature a friendly, kind and caring person who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for my clients. I founded 360 MindBody Clinic in keeping with those values.
Who do I treat?
Anyone experiencing muscle pain and/or restricted movement.
My treatment style
I believe that to achieve good outcomes, collaboration is an important factor. Working collaboratively with you, allows me to fully understand your treatment goals and to develop a comprehensive individualised treatment plan that works for you.
What drew me to this profession?
I have always had an interest in the way we move and hold ourselves together during our daily activities.
This interest first led me into the fitness industry and it gave me a good overall understanding of how to educate people to ensure they move correctly. During this time, I would come across people who were restricted by injury and pain. I wanted to improve my knowledge in this area so that I could help people overcome the pain and restricted movement. Myotherapy has given me this knowledge.
My Past Work Experience
I have been a personal trainer for 5 years and am currently based in a Blackburn studio. During this time, I have seen clients of all ages, body types, injuries and pain, and have successful helped them reach their fitness or rehabilitation goals.
While working as a PT, I completed the diploma of Remedial Massage and advanced diploma of Myotherapy to assist with common postural dysfunctions and pain management. I joined 360 MindBody Clinic to help people manage pain and to restore movement.
Who do I treat?
Anybody with musculoskeletal pain and/or restriction.
My treatment style
I look at the body as a whole and work with you to achieve a good outcome ensuring you can get back to your lifestyle quickly.
